Lamp "Hector"
The Italian Institute of Design Perugia has presented this new prototype lamp, even if the word lamp seems almost an understatement. If you look carefully, we are facing a huge switch, so that the old lights if necessary. Some have defined an object becomes subject and vice versa, I would say that this is a provocation that borrows an element symbol of enlightenment and enriches it with the light inside.

It may make exceptions on the choice of form and its stability on the possible entry of the environment. Certainly I find it difficult to justify the choice of a design so simple just to the communicative meaning that there is behind the project. A lamp is also an object of daily use and I believe that the multiple forms of existing products in the vast panorama of light is now full of products that evoke the world of electrical components. Just think of the many objects that take their inspiration from the good and expensive bulb.
The design should therefore only surprise, in a veiled way to communicate better or deep? Or the design linked to the gap must never forget the ultimate object created?

Hector is brilliant for me precisely because of its shape, is not only a lamp, but a switch from light.
Recall that even if in different forms, there will always be a switch in each lamp, but a lamp in a switch not! Very original idea.
I do not think that will go away since the end of the object itself, certainly one thing is certain: surprises and pleases, at least to me.
Creativity is the daughter of free thought, why are we convinced that the ultimate object should not be a constraint nor an accessory. The applause and the approval of the public are also the first prize at the creativity of others.
Personally I think "Hector" encompasses in itself all the requirements and basic principles that fuel the industrial design has the union, the union between the time of conception and that cover all aspects of production, from product design to its development and engineering through to production on a large scale. Based on these solid foundations, in my opinion "Hector," is not only an object of well-designed functional design but also an element that radiates and transmits life, energy and optimism. Hello all.
I imbatutto even I in this article about Hector lamp, and being one of the two designers of the lamp together with my colleague James Begani, I wanted to clarify some points raised by Mr. Meini.
I wanted to quickly address the issue of stability of the lamp, the image shown here above Hector is portrayed in a pose that could forviare what is his real position, ie horizontal, where he finds his perfect stability, and therefore each
object placed in a position nn balanced and appropiata to its shape is unstable.
After that I wanted to move to mention the choice of form of Hector took no for an arbitrary choice but through a survey we propose a sample of 80 people divided into 2 groups, 40 women and 40 men, 7 by sending different types of switches and asking them which of 7 was much closer to their aesthetic value, or reminiscent of childhood.
Hector, therefore, is the result of a selection and a democratic choice.
So I would thank Mr. Meini advance for your attention and for the opportunity to put even more the philosophy, history and characteristics of our creation.

In my opinion, Hector is a tenderness only and not for its philosophy, but simply for his appearance that softens at first glance.
And I believe that faced with such monotony contemporary lighting is a breath of freshness and cheerfulness.
Every object, like every individual, has its own identity and therefore should be treated specifically, outside of generalizations that go beyond an honest judgment.
Specifically, I believe that the value of this "object-individual" (Hector in fact), should be traced beyond its appearance, the boundary of the material form that belongs to us as a reminiscence from the vintage look.
An aura drowns her swollen round of memories, in a philosophy of spiritual references from "the herd of the light that he himself becomes light" in an intimate asceticism, transcends in its "new enlightened nature."
